Their album Uplands Park Road, written whilst living in London, was written, played and arranged by the three Italian brothers, Alessandro, Bruno and Mirko Cirrone

“Uplands Park Road” is an eclectic collection of 13 songs, covering a variety of moods and genres, from sunny catchy pop to up-tempo guitar-led rock, from soft acoustic to introspective moods, from quirky tongue-in cheek rock’n’roll to passionate emotive ballads. Every song is strong enough to stand on its own. Tight harmonies, catchy hooks, powerful guitar sections, clear heartfelt lyrics, passionate vocals, stunning guitar solos, each song creates its own mood and has its own charm and energy, and illustrates the talent and versatility of this band from Sicily.

The album has been receiving regular radio airplay worldwide including many national radio stations such RAI in Italy and RNE in Spain, also UK, USA, Brazil, Japan, Germany, Sweden, France, and many other countries across the globe, and is often requested by listeners. It’s not the first time the brothers have spent time in England however, in fact their musical journey began when Alessandro, Bruno and Mirko were in Liverpool on a family holiday in their early teens, and their mother bought them a Beatles album, probably never realising the impact that would have on their future, inspiring them all to learn to play the guitar and form a band. Returning home to Sicily, the young boys spent every spare minute listening to music, practising guitar and perfecting their vocal harmonies, and chose the name “Apple Scruffs” to enter a school contest playing British and American ‘60s classic hits. Word spread about this exciting young Italian pop/rock band performing songs in English and very quickly they were invited to play the most popular clubs and pubs around their hometown of Palermo.

The natural progression after about 18 months of playing covers was to start writing their own songs, discovering another new talent. They compose catchy pop/rock melodies with English lyrics, embracing their own sound that sometimes nods to the seventies but at the same time remains firmly implanted in today. Their music is modern, fresh, honest and sunny, but also captures some defining influences of their favourite bands of the sixties and seventies, to whom they are often very favourably compared.

With all three brothers sharing lead and vocal harmonies, Alessandro and Mirko on guitars, and Bruno on bass guitar, and now supported by their drummer, it was time for them to head back to Liverpool, but this time it was because they had the honour of being invited to perform at The Cavern Club as part of the Matthew Street Festival, to an enthusiastic reception, including a request by the Lord Mayor to meet them to present them with a plaque, and further appearances at The Cavern followed.

The band moved to bigger stages and concerts, including festival main stages, theater and clubs around Europe and also clubs in New York. It was when they were in New York they noticed that people were referring to them as “Cirrone” rather than “Apple Scruffs”, because of the fascination with the fact that they are brothers, and so they decided to change the band name to “Cirrone”.

They have played more than 1,000 concerts over the past years, and given interviews performed on many national TV (including RAI in Italy) and radio shows. Cirrone also won a national competition held by Rai Radio 1 as Best Songwriters with their song “Your Eyes Are Wide Open”.

Cirrone are currently in the studio recording an EP of original songs, to be followed by an Album scheduled for a Summer 2017 release, which they plan to promote with live concerts and touring.
