Learn how to release your ileocecal valve.
The ileocecal valve is located between your small intestine and large intestine.
The ileocecal valve is a good region to address in physical therapy, as it can be a contributing factor to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). There can be 2 reasons why too much bacteria is in the small intestine:
1) Stomach doesn't have enough stomach acid. Lack stomach acid contributes to more junk, bacteria, and wastes in the small intestine.
2) Ileocecal valve (between the small and large intestine); if it isn't closing well, bacteria can go from the large to small intestine. This can cause intense bloating. Visceral mobilization at the valve can help move well!
