On my first visit to Milford Sound (Piopiotahi), New Zealand, we stayed in Te Anau overnight with our campers and drove ourselves to the sound for a scenic cruise. For my second visit, we took one of the scenic flight + cruise combo tours! It saved us a lot of [travel] time and was an incredible way to see the beautiful South Island landscapes.
Not seen: the turbulence on the flight back that made us feel marginally unwell
