UNIFIL Italian peacekeepers and the Lebanese Armed Forces are working together to remove road obstacles in the south, to ensure they can all move freely to perform their tasks.
They recently removed an obstruction south of Shama, helping local civilians return safely.
Trained mine detection dogs are actively searching for explosives, while peacekeepers and soldiers use specialized machinery and landmine resistant bulldozers to repair damaged roads.
The work ultimately benefits peacekeepers, the Lebanese barmy, and the local civilians.
This activity is part of a broader initiative that focuses on the large-scale removal of road-blockages to re-connect communities and enhance safety in the region.
