I found myself alone on our route between Palas de Rei to Melide for a little bit today, and decided to welcome, embrace, and make it my own by embracing a lot of the food scene the Camino offers.
Here's what I had, a little of where I found it, and where I enjoyed it. I made every stop I felt like making (without asking anyone if they'd like to stop or keep going). Accidentally ate 2 ice cream within 500 meters. And managed to find a fabulous fun bevvie with a back-and-forth of broken English with a shop owner on the river. It did help that our route today was a short one. Only 15 kilometers. With all my stops, I still managed to get to the hotel before 1pm, explore Melide, take a little siesta, and be ready for dinner. Thank heavens, my feet are starting to hate me a little less.
Today was the first day that made me say, "Okay, I see why people do this." And that, my friends, is a win. 🇪🇸 The food scene on the Camino de Santiago can be really interesting. And it's exciting to try new things. Their Sangria was so refreshing on such a hot summer day.
One thing that Melide is known for is their octopus/pulpo. It's considered a delicacy. We ended up eating at Pulperia A Garnacha, and it was absolutely divine. It's the best octopus I've ever had.
Would definitely recommend this spot.
