Today we're diving into the psychology of the mobile game DC Dark Legion, a auto-battle team RPG game by developer FunPlus. The game places you, the player, as the guide for the intellectual property of DC comics to fight back against The Batman Who Laughs and his evil Dark Legion. But the Dark Legion isn't the only evil force looking to win over you in this game...the developer themselves has some sinister tactics that they use to get you to spend your time, money, and attention on conquering the evil within their app.
This is the first video in an ongoing series where I, as a behaviour change researcher and self-proclaimed mobile game addict, dive into the psychology behind popular mobile games and reveal the tactics developers use to hack our brains into playing (and importantly, spending) more.
