Winter Camp Rebuild: We Tore Down Half the Building and Started Over | Ep. 8

Описание: We thought the demolition was over, but this camp remodel just took a turn for the worse. After discovering a completely rotten structure in the mudroom, we had to tear down half the building and start over in the dead of winter. From framing a new bathroom to scoring free building materials from an Amish sawmill in PA, this episode is a race against the snow.

Working through December, January, and February, we battled freezing temperatures and several snowstorms just to keep progress moving. Despite the winter conditions, we managed to frame a new bathroom and install temporary heat so we could keep working inside.
But as we opened up the other side of the building near the main entrance and mud room, we discovered something we weren’t expecting — the structure was in terrible condition. What started as a repair quickly turned into a full rebuild.
Piece by piece, we had to tear down an entire side of the camp, install a new foundation, and rebuild the structure from the ground up.
Along the way we also scored some free building materials from an Amish sawmill and a cargo trailer manufacturer in Leeper, PA. Those materials will help us move forward with one of the biggest upcoming upgrades — installing in-floor heating in the camp.
By the end of February we finally step back and realize how much progress has been made. The camp is now essentially a brand-new structure.
But that realization comes with a new challenge…
Now we need everything that makes a building livable — electrical, heating systems, stairs, insulation, and all the interior finishes.
The rebuild phase is complete, but in many ways the project is just beginning.
