Today marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year, and I visited Yokohama Chinatown to capture the festive atmosphere. In Japan, New Year’s celebrations are traditionally quiet, without fireworks like in the West or firecrackers like in China. However, Yokohama Chinatown brings a vibrant touch of Chinese culture to the city during this special time. Since today is a Wednesday, the first day of the festival wasn’t too crowded, but the weekend is expected to be much livelier. Join me on this peaceful yet festive walk and experience the unique charm of Chinese New Year in Japan!
