We explore the beautiful island of Belitung, known for its amazing rock formations, then clear out of Indonesia and sail north across the equator. We encounter violent lightning storms, hundreds of brightly lit fishing boats and nets and sweltering heat. The Malacca Straits is the busiest shipping route and we have to cross it! We wait for the right moment until there is a gap in the stream of ships going by in both directions, and then safely make our way across, being careful not to go into Singapore waters. We cruise up the Johor Strait, and go under the bridge and into Puteri Marina where we clear into Malaysia.
