I traveled to Montenegro to see if I could find traces of Yugoslavia, the former country made up of six republics: Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.
For nearly three decades, Josip Broz Tito ruled Yugoslavia, but after his death in 1980, the country slowly began to fall apart.
In this video, I explore Kotor and Perast, two historic coastal towns, searching for remnants of the Yugoslav era. Then, I head to Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital, a city where the Yugoslav ghost still lingers. I visit key locations that reflect this complex past while also sharing some general history of Montenegro.
