Martin's The Hedge Knight novella, on which A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 is based!  HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms put the spotlight on another era of House Targaryen’s family tree, with plenty more complicated relations and repeated names present after Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. While A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ story is largely centered on the tale of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire “Egg,” the Targaryens still play an integral role as the sitting royal family attempting to restore their fierce reputation.  A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ timeline is situated in the middle of HBO’s previous series, taking place about 80 years after House of the Dragon and approximately 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones. As such, House Targaryen’s family members are in a daunting position with the last of their dragons having recently died out after the Dance of the Dragons and their loss of the Iron Throne being on the horizon.  However, plenty of Targaryens are still around during A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, with one even being a key character in Game of Thrones. Daeron “the Good” Targaryen is the twelfth Targaryen King of Westeros, whose reign is best remembered for bringing Dorne into the Seven Kingdoms peacefully.  Daeron is the son of the late King Aegon IV Targaryen and his sister-wife Naera Targaryen, with his full-blooded sister being Princess Daenerys and his half-siblings including Brynden Rivers, Daemon Blackfyre, and Aegor Rivers.
