How to: Make a frog hotel

Описание: I recently learned that there’s over 130 frog species in Queensland alone. If you’re lucky enough to have froggies at your place you’ve probably noticed they’re pretty adapted to living with us but sometimes opt to hang out in kinda undesirable or unsafe spots. Their natural habitat is declining due to the usual suspects - urbanisation, land clearing, feral predators etc and your home was probably their home first, so why not give back and make them a cute and safe little hotel 🐸💚
Now I’m no expert (bird nerd remember) but I learned a coupla things in this process you should consider if you’re gonna take on this project;
~ make sure it’s around 50-60cm off the ground to prevent cane toads from accessing it
~ opt for a shady spot and keep the water topped up to the rock level
~ flush the water out regularly to keep it clean
~ keep an eye out for breeding activity and tadpoles and support them if you can
~ it can be 3 pipes or 13 honestly make it however big or small or simple or fancy you want. the best thing is to just repurpose stuff you already have rather than buying too much.

I think I was about six months pregnant when I did this and since then going on a little frog walk to check the hotel on nights that I can’t sleep has been the funnest way to pass the time. Such a simple project that brings so much joy ♥ lemme know if you try it. also if you buy the PVC from bunnings they’ll cut it to size for you, and be sure to tell them what it’s for - makes for a good conversation 🐸
