The UNESCO World Heritage site of Provins is part of some fascinating European history we were totally unaware of! In the late medieval era, the Counts of Champagne would host trade fairs several times each year in the towns of the region. These trade fairs were an important link between northern and southern Europe, as both goods and ideas travelled back and forth. Provins was only one of the many towns that hosted fairs, but has survived the most intact and is thus inscribed on the World Heritage list - enjoy!
