Why You Should Make an Annual Playlist (Here’s How I Do It)

In this short solo reflection, I’m sharing why music has always mattered so much to me and how creating an annual playlist became one of my favorite ways to reflect on my life. Music has a way of holding memory in a way nothing else can. You might forget moments or seasons, but a song can take you right back to exactly where you were and how you felt.

I talk about how music played a meaningful role in a past relationship, how that evolved into creating yearly playlists, and why naming those playlists became an intentional practice as my life changed. From 23 Choosing Me to 24 Do More to 25 New Life, each playlist quietly captured a chapter of growth, healing, and new beginnings.

I also talk about rest — real rest — and why it’s essential for creativity, clarity, and perspective. For a long time, I didn’t think of myself as creative. Turns out, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Some of my best ideas have come when I stopped pushing and let my mind wander.
