Ryan Routh, the man convicted of trying to assassinate then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in 2024, was sentenced to life in prison.
Routh also received a consecutive seven-year sentence for one of his gun convictions, the Associated Press reported.
Last year, Routh was found guilty of five federal criminal counts in the case.

Ryan Routh spent weeks plotting to kill Donald Trump before aiming a rifle through shrubbery as the then-Republican presidential candidate played golf on Sept. 15, 2024, at his West Palm Beach country club, according to prosecutors. A Secret Service agent prevented Routh's attack when he saw him with a rifle, and Routh was arrested.
