BIG & CRAZY Mangrove Snappers are Schooling all around the Skyway Fishing Bridge and Fishing Piers in Tampa Bay. Easy Limits & Catches of Mangrove Snapper to be caught! BIG Mangroves schooling around the Skyway Bridge and the bridge columns. Lots of baitfish for the Mangroves to feed on.
The Mangrove Snapper’s were Hungry and Slamming Live Greenbacks right after that Tropical system dropped wind and rain on Tampa Bay Saturday. These guys will gobble up just anything you toss at them! Hurry out and get in on the Action! They were all under the Skyway Bridge, South Side.
Use Threadfin Herring for chum with Menhaden Shad Oil. Just cut into chunks and toss it into the tide up-current so it sinks down.

Also stopped by the South Skyway Fishing Pier on the West side and picked up a few nice fish there.
It was a Beautiful but Windless Sunday, June 5th, the water was calm, lots of boats out and the Mangroves were HUNGRY!
On the way out to the shipping channel, I stopped and bought a scoop of greenbacks. Had a hard time netting them the last time I was out so I decided to buy some. It paid off!

To catch the BIG Mangroves, I use 3/8 & 1/2 ounce chartreuse jigs tipped with live Greenbacks & Spanish sardines. My Shimano Saragosa Spinning reels and Shimano Terez Med-fast 20-50 fast action rod. See below for more information on my rods & reels.

Mangroves were hitting everything I tossed down to the bottom. Sometimes it wouldn’t even hit bottom and they gobbled it up and my pole would get slammed!
