Previously we arcrhived Fatal Frame 2 which was the most famous entry in the series and today we archive Fatal Frame 4 Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. This title originally only came out on the Wii and never had a western release. Then only a few years ago a remastered version came out on consoles and PC and that is what you see here today.
Graphically the game looks beautiful and atmospheric and the ghosts look scarier than ever. The intro has great pacing and the fact that you switch between three different characters is cool too. Each has a slightly different way of dealing with the ghosts, but the game does suffer from too much backtracking and repetition since all three characters explore the same locations. You basically will see each room and hallway three times throughout the game and it can unfortunately feel a bit boring because of that. I feel like Fatal Frame 2 is indeed still the best that I played, so I cannot wait for the remake that will release in a couple of weeks.
