RBI Projects India's Real GDP Growth For FY25-26 At 6.5%, Pegs FY26 CPI Inflation At 4% | CNBC TV18

Описание: The Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee (RBI MPC) has lowered its inflation forecast for the financial year ending in March 2026 (FY26) to 4%, down from 4.2% earlier, citing a sharper-than-expected decline in food prices and easing global crude oil rates.

Governor Sanjay Malhotra noted that crude oil prices have fallen and are the lowest in three years. But trade tariff measures have exacerbated uncertainty posing new challenges for growth and inflation.

“While sharper than expected decline in food inflation has given us comfort and confidence we remain vigilant,” he said while announcing the first bi-monthly monetary policy for FY26. US tariffs and global uncertainties, he added, may lead to pressure on Indian currency and imported inflation.

The RBI also slashed the real economic growth outlook amid rising global concerns.

Governor Sanjay Malhotra-led RBI MPC slashed the real GDP growth projection to 6.5% from 6.7% earlier.
