Many deaf parents celebrate when finding out their baby is born deaf. Well some do not. But they feel natural to find out that their baby is deaf like them. hearing parents often feel surprised and would feel sorrow and that’s normal. It's also normal to feel overwhelmed at times, especially when faced with the unique challenges of raising a deaf child.
Honestly, we didn’t expect to have deaf kids because none of us have deaf family from previous generations, especially that I have two deaf brothers. It was a surprise, but it also opened up a new world for us, a world of sign language, deaf culture, and a community that we never knew existed.
It’s ok if you have deaf kids. There are countless resources available to help them succeed and grow in life, just like every other person. You are not alone in this journey.
