Footage of Yugoslavian President Josip visiting Togo where he was hosted by Prime Minister Sylvanus Olympio. Tito had driven from Ghana where he had spent 4 days and was scheduled to stay in Togo for 3 days.

"President Tito inspected a detachment of the Togo militia, and then drove off to the Presidential Palace at Lome, the country's capital, two miles inside the border with Ghana. The following day, he laid a wreath on the war memorial, and attended a rally at the Lome Stadium. Both the Prime Minister and President Tito were accompanied by their wives.
They watched displays by troops, school-children, voluntary organisations, Togo women and footballers. A highlight of the visit was a State dinner in the Hotel Le Benin in Lome.
Togoland became independent in 1960; and according to latest estimates has a population of Nearly 2,000,000 Africans and 1,277 Europeans."

Sylvanus Olympio was assassinated on January 12th 1963 by disgruntled Togolese troops.
