Stiffness tests are performed in order to determine the stiffness distribution in different cross-sections along the blade. Stiffness tests can be performed in both edgewise and flap wise direction. Furthermore a torsional stiffness test can be performed.Young's modulus, or the Young modulus, is a mechanical property that measures the stiffness of a solid material. It defines the relationship between stress (force per unit area) and strain (proportional deformation) in a material in the linear elasticity regime of a uni axial deformation.
Hooke's law states that. the strain of the material is proportional to the applied stress within the elastic limit of that material. When the elastic materials are stretched, the atoms and molecules deform until stress is been applied and when the stress is removed they return to their initial state
