This week, NCCM was on Parliament Hill with our community partners to push Canada to align with our commitment to human rights and international law by banning imports from illegal Israeli settlements.
Both international law and Canadian policy are clear that these settlements are illegal and a huge impediment to peace in the region. Yet Canada still conducts trade that helps sustain these settlements.
The majority of Canadians do not support the importation of goods from these illegal settlements, which have also long been accused of forced labour practices. Canadian law also bans any goods tainted by such practices.
It is time Canada changes course. Peace will not come without action.
It is time for Canada to ban all imports from illegal Israeli settlements.
