Sky Garden - Mario Kart: Super Circuit [8-Bit/Dn-FT, VRC6+FDS]

Anyways, it’s Mario Kart again. One of my favourite courses in the game for both the track itself with its aesthetics and the music. The annoying part about this cover is that too many notes from the melody clash with the little arpeggio thing going on, so you might hear some pitch weirdness. I also just realized that the DS version of the song (which I used as a reference) has a lot of crash cymbals which I don’t really think is necessary, so I removed some.

Switched over to Dn-FamiTracker, a.k.a. Deez Nuts FamiTracker. 0.3.0.0’s got some nifty features, but I kinda don’t like the 2A03 emulation. You see, the previous version was more in line with 0CC, meaning that noise+DPCM were super punchy. This “problem” can be remedied by going into the mixer and changing both APU volume settings to +0.6, but I wouldn’t really recommend that because goddamn that is loud. Otherwise, I like it. There’s this cool thing that patterns will ALWAYS carry over data from the previous frame. For example, let’s say you have a note placed at the very beginning (we’ll go with an B-3), and before this note plays, you have a vibrato effect. If you don’t have the vibrato cancelled, it will still play it even if you preview/play from the B-3. It’s nifty as hell imo.

My covers have been getting shorter as of recent. Don’t know if that has anything to do with tracking at Speed 2, but oh well.
