Wiring & Testing An Electric Brew Controller with Joe & Erik

Quick disclaimer--this is NOT a how-to video of how to wire up your 220v electric brewing controller. This is how I did it with my particular components and equipment with an expert in the field helping me along the way--and if you take inspiration from all of this, that's awesome! But know that you do so at your own risk, and you could DIE (as in you could actually kill yourself) if you screw it up. That being said....

HEY YOUTUBE! JOE HERE! So, in this video Erik and I are wiring up and doing some tests on the new 220v electric brewing controller that will power the new Spike Brewing kettle and mash tun they sent me to give a test run. Throughout this video, we wire up the 220v spa panel, send the power into the control panel, and wire up LEDs and switches, as well as our PID and SSR, to control the brew process as well as my pump, and make sure we have a few safeguard overrides in place if I need them.

This system was modeled after Erik's basic PWM controller (that you see at the end of the video!) with an update into the PID and pump controllers. We're all ears about your ideas and comments, so please do let us know! And again--this is how we did it, and it is working incredibly well. Just like with everything else in the home brewing hobby, there are lots of ways to do it--it's finding the way that works for YOU and your budget that makes it happen. So far, this build has been incredibly educational for me, and I'm enjoying everything so far! It is working, the PID and electric element are functioning very well, and the kettles from Spike Brewing are, of course, absolutely insanely awesome!
