'Serenata' is a song composed by Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) and, in its vocal form, was a hit for Sarah Vaughan.
However, this is one of those pieces that has the rare distinction of also being popular as an orchestral work.
A well known version is by the Boston Pops Orchestra for which Leroy Anderson worked as an arranger. And not forgetting the version by Anderson's own orchestra.
This performance is by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gilbert Vinter (1909-1969)
It comes from a Reader's Digest 3 x CD set titled 'Classics By Starlight' issued in 1995.
This is track 9 on the first compact disc 'Golden Melodies for a Romantic Evening'. (420002301-1).
