This is an excellent interview, much longer than the 2 minute version. She answers ALL the questions people have been asking about imprinting, using puppets, E8's interaction with people, health, prospects for return to the nest.
E8's left leg/foot became hopelessly entangled the morning of 2/8/16. The material tightened around his leg and began causing swelling of the leg/foot.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (http://myfwc.com/) was alerted. In cooperation with Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW http://crowclinic.org/), a rescue operation took place approximately noon on 2/9/16. E8 was removed from the nest and taken to CROW for treatment and observation. CROW has reported that E8 has no broken bones and will not require surgery. Anticipate return to the nest "in a few days."

Many thanks to CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc., LCEC and our local MasTec contractor for coming together quickly, securing a bucket truck and rescuing E8 from entanglement.
E8 was taken back to CROW for further evaluation. We will wait to hear from them on next steps. To learn more about their mission or donate to their organization visit: crowclinic.org.
