This video features the Foxfield Railway and its infamous 1 in 19 bank. The charter was organised by Richard Newton of the 3P20 Parcels Group and features 0-4-0ST Engine No. 7063 Eustace Forth running as No.15 from the CEGB fleet. The weather on arrival was appalling with fog and heavy snow. However, the weather picked up but remained bitterly cold throughout the day. My intention was always to produce a black and white video so conditions were perfect for this. After some run pasts out of the colliery sidings we then moved on to the main attraction, the formidable 1 in 19 climb to Dilhorne Park. After a few run pasts at the bottom of the climb the loco and wagons then attempted the climb to the top. The first attempt failed producing some spectacular scenes and after reversing back down to the colliery a second attempt was made and after many slips the loco reached Dilhorne Park.
My thanks go to Richard Newton and the crew of the loco and guards van for providing some spectacular scenes.
