78019 at the Dean Forest Railway
Saturday 8th November 2025
BR black Standard class 2 2-6-0 No. 78019 from featured on a Don Bishop Steam Recreations photographic charter on a short steam hailed British railways goods. The train was typical of a number of branch lines in Gloucestershire in the 1950/60’s period, such as those to Nailsworth & Dursley.
The 2MT is usually based at the Great Central Railway in Loughborough and was visiting for the railway's Autumn Steam Gala.
Beautiful autumnal light graced the days photography, with the added bonus of Great Western Pannier Tank 9681 being in steam and shunting around the yard at Norchard as part of a shunting MIC.
The train worked between Lydney and Parkend with stops at Middle Forge Junction, Norchard, Tufts Junction and Whitecroft.
