Existing Buildings provisions continue to evolve. This seminar covers Chapter 34 of the 2012 IBC, with a comparison to the Work Area Method of the 2012 IEBC. It traces the major changes made in 2009 and describe changes coming in 2015, which include a direct reference to ASCE 41-13. The presentation explains the changes in organization and terminology, as well as the practical and philosophical issues behind them. Examples illustrate the intent of the code, the remaining gray areas, and some common misapplications.
