Destiny 2's Lore and Story would have been completely different were it not for The Great Disaster. At this moment, the Guardian armies marched on the moon to try and reclaim it. Crota met them in battle and soundly defeated them. In the battle, Crota killed the legendary Titan Wei Ning. In doing so, he unintentionally set a chain of events in motion that would lead to the Crota's End Raid, and his final defeat.
