Class 89 "89001" Back in Action! WCML Test Run at Springs Branch - 18th March 2026

Описание: The unique and very special prototype electric locomotive class 89 89001 named "Avocat" but fondly nicknamed "Badger"is seen speeding north along the west coast main line and through Springs Branch south of Wigan on the morning of Wednesday 18th March 2026

The class 89 was working a loaded test run from Crewe to Tebay good loop located south of Shap Summit between Oxenholme and Penrith.

The AC Locomotive Group and Locomotive Services Group announced a partnership back in 2021 to bring the prototype electric locomotive, Class89 89001' Avocet' back into mainline use. After a number of light testing moves, today saw the first fully loaded test run, where the 'badger' can stretch its legs.

With Class86 86101 'Sir William A Stanier FRS' in tow for security, with a rake of 6 matching MK3 coaches and DVT 82139 making quite a spectacular sight.
