The programme forms part of UK Sport’s commitment to increase the diversity of leadership on international sports bodies and has been informed by research we conducted on the pathways that British leaders have taken to achieve senior international posts. That research found that on average men had stronger international professional networks than women, which was a contributing factor to the inequality that persists in representation in international sports federations.
The programme, a pilot led by Goal17, was launched in June 2023 and brought together ten experienced female international sports leaders with ten female future leaders for nine months of mentoring support.
