We returned to the abandoned Mecca Bingo in Halifax, a place I first explored two years ago, to see how much it has changed since closing on 14th August 2022 after Covid. What we found was devastating.

This building wasn’t just bricks and walls — it was once full of life, laughter, and memories. It’s believed to have originally been an Odeon theatre, later becoming Mecca Bingo, a place where generations came together. For me, this place is personal. This was my mum’s favourite place to be, spending time playing bingo — and sadly, she isn’t with us anymore.

Walking through it now feels haunting.
Fires have been set.
Windows smashed.
Interiors destroyed.

What was once beautiful is now scarred and blackened, slowly being erased. It’s heartbreaking to see a place that meant so much to so many people being left to rot, vandalised beyond recognition. This isn’t just abandonment — it feels like history being killed off piece by piece.

Exploring this building now feels more like a memorial than an urbex location. A reminder of how quickly places — and people — can be lost. This video is about remembering what this place was, not just documenting what it’s become.
