Come along as we visit the picturesque town of Alesund (Ålesund) Norway as we sail aboard the MSC Euribia. We will board the Hop on Hop off bus to visit the recreated Viking Village of Borgund in Sunnmore (Sunnmøre). There are 50 relocated buildings here showcasing the coastal culture of this region. Traditional houses and buildings from the Middle Ages to the early 20th centaur are here!
Next, the bus dropped us for a hike to the magnificent Mount Aksla for stunning view of the village below, the surrounding islands and mountains, and fjords. See if you think this walk is suitable for you!
Alesund (Ålesund) suffered a devastating fire in 1904 and most of the town was destroyed. Local architects rebuilt this charming town in the Art Nouveau style, creating a cohesive, story-book like town. It is an easy town for pedestrians and there is a lot to see.
We strolled along the Brosundet Canal and saw a viking ship! There are many statues and interesting sites along the canal as well as restaurants, museums, and bars. We visited the Irish pub, Dirty Nelly for a local beer. And tried a local specialty, brown cheese, in a brown cheesecake at Stor Fjord.
Back on board the Euribia, we enjoyed dinner in the Main Dining Room and a production show in the theater.
