A journey onboard Ex KMB Volvo B10TL Super Olympian Wright Explorer (Based off a Gemini 1) AVW96 operating the Lowish Floor Running Day route 22 between Godstone Green and East Grinstead. AVW96 was new back in 2004 but didn't arrive in Hong Kong until the following year, entering service with KMB in mid 2005. It would stay in Hong Kong throughout its 18 year operation span until it got withdrawn around 2023. Eventually, it got ferried back to the UK and ended up in the hands of Replacement Bus Hire, gaining a new registration of VW04 RBH (The Hong Kong reg was MA 4745).
The Volvo B10TL featured has the D10A-285 285hp engine and ZF Ecomat 5HP590 5 speed gearbox and this journey was chaotic.
Many people all attempted to board the bus at East Grinstead (roughly 200-300 estimated) but it got so full, many were left behind (I was lucky enough to ride it both ways). A similar situation happened at Godstone Green though with less people but some still got left behind there as well.
The video focuses on the journey from Godstone Green to East Grinstead although it goes up to just outside Felbridge. It did struggle a bit but managed to get up to around 47mph and handled the hills better than most of the standard double deckers here. Kickdown was also featured as well.
