Turn Lithium battery into Lithium Hydroxide

Описание: My research and experience with Lithium, tells me that we need to be careful when using lithium metal such as lithium batteries that are reacted in water.

when lithium metal is dropped in water care must be taken to do it outside and away from anything that can catch fire.

when reacting the lithium metal in a thick glass container once the metal caught the hydrogen gas on fire that was being produced. this happened because a piece of lithium broke free from the metal rod that held it to the bottom of the water container- made of glass. So the metal must stay BELOW THE WATER LINE when reacting with water via attaching it to a metal rod or other heavy metal plate.

you can not put these fires out easily even under water. so keep the metal UNDER WATER AT ALL TIMES. the heat was so intense while under water that it cracked a 1/2 inch thick test cell made out of glass! so its wise to react the metal inside stainless steel pots and never plastic or glass.

Instead of cutting the ends off I found it was better to cut the battery in half with a tubing cutter and pull the elements out.
use rubber gloves when handling lithium.

Fast Freddy said he uses lithium grease. i have tried this also. you put grease on both plates of an electrolysis cell and put it in water and run current through it. i used distilled water and 20-145 VDC for many hours. i filtered the grease out and used this in an experiement.
