Patients will enter the Interventional Services Center through a new welcoming lobby and registration area located behind the current surgery waiting area. This entrance is near both hospital amenities and consultation rooms for the convenience of patients and visitors. Our emphasis on creating a healing environment for patient care continues within this new area. As always, our intention with decor, amenities, and design is to ease a stressful experience so patients and their families can focus on recovery.

Interventional services include 46 new preparation and recovery rooms, 24 of these rooms open now, with the remaining rooms available to open as procedure volume and patient flow grows. The design of space improves workflow by right-sizing rooms and creating efficient neighborhoods between patient rooms and nurse stations. Nurse station access to patient rooms supports patient-centered care and accessibility for nursing staff who oversee multiple patients.

In the area where procedures are performed, we can accommodate interventional radiology, neurointerventional radiology, and interventional cardiovascular services. This additional capacity and interventional procedures will ensure UK HealthCare specialists and staff can offer comprehensive and multidisciplinary services on par with the nation's best centers. This includes high-acuity interventional procedures, biplane and CT-guided procedures, and advanced practice provider-run procedures in ultrasound rooms.

Nine new procedure rooms are open now and five more are ready to complete in the coming years, as needed. Flexible room designs can accommodate either cardiac or interventional radiology scans. Identical pre-and-post-procedure rooms allow the unit to easily adapt with changing needs and accommodate future growth. Two interventional CT scan rooms also open this month.

Having high-quality imaging located within the space is a convenience for patients, providers, and staff. It also supports timely intervention for patients with acute injuries or developing conditions. In addition to providing the latest technologies and conveniences for our patients, we have also created comfortable and convenient workspaces for staff members. The new interventional space includes provider and staff offices and locker rooms, easy access for our teams to be productive and comfortable work in downtime spaces.
