Our Love Story

A stitch in time, saved our story …
The dawn of our story can never be told without its dilemma as well as drama – Her waiting, His wandering; Her expectation, His exemption; Her tears, His transition. We were never perfect but wanted the same thing out of life – A Happy Family.

First Contact …
Our story began at the right place in 2016 after his service year at the Abdulsalam Abubakar Hall in UI. A visit to her room in the hall along with a colleague of his brought them together – Her love at first sight. He was not aware at that time of how much value had been placed on him and never knew the attention he had gotten from that time. Another time, he met her again at the bus stop of her hall while he asked for her assistance to get some change for his fare. As she departed, he soliloquized, how beautiful and lively she was - In his single and searching mind.

Further Contact …
Our friendship was birth in 2017 amidst all our individual sagas and relationships. We were both praying and trusting God to settle us in our respective homes sooner or later. We never knew the experiences we passed through were to bring us here at the best time. We never had a week straight without one issue of indifference or insensitivity or the other. We always had it coming till 2019.

2019 was a year of change and rest. A gentle phone call broke the camel’s back in our case, to carve our story as it is experienced or read today. He made that call to her on Saturday, 16th February 2019 after a one and a half month of distancing each other “Hello, how are you?”. We became friends again and hoped we would be able to keep being friends longer that we had. We even had a remembrance of a month for being friends - Imagine that!

For Companionship …
He proposed to her on Monday, 26th August 2019 about his intention to marry her and asked for her hands in marriage. She said “Yes” on Friday, 30th August 2020. His proposal was sincere and the best of all she had ever had - Her testimony. We committed ourselves to make it work for us in our marriage from that day forward. Taking steps together till now, we have reasons to refer to ourselves of the emblem or significance we have been to each other.

Patience Opeyemi is a humble and spirited woman. She has a heart to do her best as much as possible, while accommodating everyone that she can before herself. I have come to respect all that she does, and I am committed to support her all the way I can. I call her “OMOASIKO: Always on time” - She stayed and saw us through.

Akinwale Modupe is a cool, calm, and collected man. He is teachable and ready to learn amidst all odds. I call him “OMOIYA: My mother’s Son”- he acts like a friend and the big brother I never had directly from my mother.

Conclusion …
Our story is never complete without saying “Our Redeemer Lives …”
