The 2022 Europe-spec model preview updates for the U.S. Compass, including a new 10.1-inch touchscreen. The Jeep Compass is receiving interior and exterior styling updates for 2022. A newly available 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system is the highlight inside. The Europe-spec model has been revealed, and Jeep says that the U.S. model will be shown within the next few months.

The refreshed Euro-spec Compass has new LED headlights and a revised seven-slat grille up front, while the rear end looks about the same. It'll once again offer the off-road-oriented Trailhawk model pictured here, and a plug-in-hybrid powertrain called 4xe is a new addition to the lineup. We're not sure if the hybrid will come to the U.S. or not, but the standard Compass's 2.4-liter inline-four engine should stick around for our market.

Look for more details to come on the U.S.-spec 2022 Jeep Compass soon. It will likely start a bit higher than the current model, which has a base price of $25,990.

While in the U.S. the Compass is powered exclusively by a 180-hp 2.4-liter inline-4 that can be had with a manual or automatic transmission (6-speed or 9-speed depending on the model), buyers elsewhere have several options to choose from.

One of these is a plug-in hybrid setup. Dubbed 4xe, the powertrain relies on a 1.3-liter inline-4 up front and an electric motor at the rear. Output ranges from 190 to 240 hp, and an 11.4-kilowatt-hour battery provides a short range of pure electric driving. The same powertrain is offered in the Renegade overseas, but Jeep is yet to confirm whether we'll see it in the U.S. Jeep has started selling a Wrangler plug-in hybrid here, though the powertrain in this model is different to the one in the Compass and Renegade.
