This small stretch of grass is surrounded by concrete sidewalks which controlled the burn. Only the delicate top layer of fluff burns, leaving everything else untouched, as if by magic. Actually' its science. The very fine fluff at top has immense surface area compared to it’s surroundings and it is virtually suspended in air. This makes it burn very fast before the thick bottom fluff and grass can be burnt, even the seed dandelions were left untouched by the flash flame.
