POLAROID (2024 Suicide Awareness Short Film)

Описание: Will, stuck at a crossroads caused by his mental health, finds himself on the verge of a life-changing decision. After multiple failed attempts to call his friends for help, Will’s decision is made. However, he is met with his purest memories to keep him from making an irreversible decision, but is it enough?

Director Statement:

"As someone who has struggled with mental health,
including some of the issues involved in this film, this
was a project that was held near and dear to my heart.
This story isn’t just about suicide prevention, but about
love, friendship, and how strong those two aspects of
life can save a soul.

In today’s climate, living in an environment where
mental health awareness is growing, expressing these
messages through film is incredibly valuable. The story
of POLAROID encapsulates the idea that someone's
presence, physical or spiritual, can make all the
difference to someone struggling. Our goal as a creative
team was to show audiences how simple saving
someone's life can truly be.

This film originated as a project for a cinematography
class at the Savannah College of Art and Design. After
continued motivation from Professor Garland
McLaurin, we pursued the film possibilities and had an
original score created. Now we start the journey of
