277 | "Malaysia My Second Home", known as MM2H in the lingo, was introduced in 2002 as a retirement visa program. Sadly, it has now morphed into a residency by investment vehicle as evidenced by new fixed deposit tiers announced in mid-December. It is being reported by some that these new tiers are the only requirements in the "new" program. This is almost certainly not the case, so in this video I explain exactly what was announced and comment on what the changes actually mean for the future of the MM2H program. At the time this video is being published the government has not announced any changes to the proof of monthly offshore income or fixed asset requirements. However, as I mention in the video the nature of the MM2H program has changed; it is now geared to attract wealthy investors to Malaysia. It is no longer a viable retirement vehicle.
