Synopsis: Mamata is a dark, atmospheric drama set in a rustic rural landscape, exploring the inner demons that reside within human desire. The film follows a woman who, unable to conceive, is consumed by a desperation that pushes her beyond the boundaries of morality and sanity. Rooted in local beliefs and age-old rituals, her longing for motherhood turns into a haunting obsession—culminating in an unthinkable act as she attempts a forbidden ritual involving another woman’s child.
Through its raw visuals, unsettling silences, and a powerful central performance, Mamata reflects on how grief, longing, and societal pressures can distort the human mind. It is a chilling portrayal of the fragile line between yearning and madness, and of the darkness that may emerge when hope turns into desperation.
