Lesson #56: Color Block Seed Stitch Scarf with Chain Edge

Описание: This seed stitch scarf is made on stationary rods the size of US 19 knitting needles, uses 2 skeins of 106 yd. each Wool-Ease Thick and Quick and one 76 yard skein for contrasting color blocks. Each section uses 2 strands of yarn held together. Finished size Width= 8" Length= 66", Completion time 3 hours.
Pattern:
Cast on 12 stitches with contrast block color. (Cast on row must be an even number)
Row 1: Back stitch first and second stitch. Then (front stitch, back stitch) across the row ending with a back stitch.
Row 2: Slip first stitch, back stitch 2nd stitch. Then (front stitch, back stitch) across the row.
Row 3 and subsequent rows in the color block are knit as Row 2. Knit for approx. 15 rows or roughly 7", making sure you save half of your yarn for the second color block at the end of the scarf.
Be sure to snug up the stitch made after the slip stitch on each row so that the chain edge isn't baggy.
Tie on color for MAIN SECTION:
Begin as you did for the first section by back stitching the first two stitches of this first row, then (front stitch, back stitch) across the row.
Row 2 and remaining rows in main section:
Slip first stitch, back stitch 2nd stitch, then (front stitch, back stitch) across the row.
Continue as row 2 for roughly 115 rows or until you have run out of yarn or the scarf is the desired length, tying on at the edge with contrast color before you run out of main body color.
Tie on contrast color and begin the second color section as you did before by: back stitching the first two stitches of this row, then (front, back) across the row.
Row 2 - 15: Slip first stitch, back stitch second stitch, then (front, back) across the row. NOTE: This section must be the same size as the first color block so keep track of your rows and measure also.
