Philanthropist offers a homeless solution for DTES | Vancouver Sun

Описание: Two years ago developer Peter Wall presented Mayor Kennedy Stewart and the City of Vancouver with a plan to build 250 units specifically for the people who are hardest to house. He hasn’t heard back.


What Wall proposed was much more than just a building. He was offering a first step for the city to begin unravelling the deadly trinity of problems it faces -- homelessness, addiction and mental health issues.


He wants Vancouver Coastal to manage it and provide services to residents, not a non-profit organization that may lack a stable funding base. His vision called Vancouver Together is for a low-rise building on 225-front feet of land on East Hastings between Main and Carrall streets.
