"It's not every day you can work on the project that has the potential to change the world," John Renouard (WHOlives.org founder) talks about the Village Drill, an innovative, economical, highly portable, human- powered water well drill that was designed by BYU mechanical engineering students and is being manufactured and distributed worldwide by WHOlives.org.

First tested in Tanzania in 2011, the drill is now in 23 countries and has drilled more than 1,100 bore holes (water wells). The human-powered drill can be disassembled so it can be transported to remote villages by truck, by hand, or, one instance, on a 3-day canoe ride up a river.
