Finally, it has gone. The very first UHF TV analogue commercial TV transmitter (possibly, the first UHF analog TV transmitter of its kind in the country) in Malaysia that start trade transmissions on 1 November 1985 on the Gunung Pulai transmitter, has finally fall slient with the analogue closedown slides after more than 34 years of continuous broadcasting. TV3 is forced to use UHF band in some areas, initially in Southern Johor due to lack of available VHF frequencies in this area without causing interference to neighbouring Malaysian and Singaporean TV services (All the available frequencies are already taken by RTM 1, RTM 2, SBC 5/Channel 5, SBC 8/Channel 8 and SBC 12/the successor of this frequency is known as Suria, and it is technically not possible to use VHF Band I Channel 1). It has so far remained the only UHF TV channel in the whole Johor and Singapore until SCV (now known as Starhub TV) starts it's pilot Analogue over the air pay TV transmission on UHF TV band in early 90s. In later years, the UHF band usage has grew considerably until this band is fully occupied by Analogue transmissions from 3 countries (Johor Malaysia, Singapore, Batam Indonesia). Analogue TV had shut down on 2 Jan 2019 in Singapore, and on 1 October in Central and Southern regions of Malaysia. The once crowded UHF band has been now less crowded due to the transition to digital transmission. VHF band is no longer used for any TV services, for now.
Recorded from TV3 Analogue Gunung Pulai on 1 October 2019.
