At first, I honestly tried to convince myself that maybe the results were just read in reverse order.
I was giving the benefit of the doubt. But no — the more I think about it, the more obvious it feels that something was seriously off.
My heart genuinely aches for the Miss Universe brand. This is the pageant I grew up watching.
This is the pageant that made me fall in love with pageantry. And now, under Raul Rocha and the current leadership, it feels like everything Miss Universe used to stand for — women
empowerment, fairness, transparency — is slowly being thrown out the window.
I've been trying so hard to stay objective, but there is just no universe where Mexico won any round convincingly. Not one. I've replayed the competition in my head and even rewatched clips, and I still can't make sense of the results.
And what hurts even more is that the girls gave everything. YEARS of preparation. Endless sacrifices. Their whole hearts. For what? For results that don't reflect what we all saw on stage.
I'm extremely proud of Ahtisa - she shined, she delivered, she carried the Philippines with so much grace and power. But honestly? The lowest placement she deserved was Ist Runner-Up.
That's the truth.
And Côte d'Ivoire at 4th?? Come on. She was the obvious winner. She dominated every round. She had the aura, the presence, the message, the performance — everything. Seeing her placed that low was just painful.
I'm not saying who's better than who, but at least when JKN of Thailand was running Miss Universe, they had the guts to crown a deserving winner. If Veena had won, honestly, it would've been believable. She aced the competition, she delivered consistently, and she made sense as a winner. But Mexico? Hell no. Nothing about that outcome aligns with what we all saw.
I've loved Miss Universe my whole life, but this year left me questioning if the pageant I knew is even the same one anymore. The magic is fading, and it breaks my heart.
