One week, one rider, one machine built for adventure. I pointed my CRF1100 Africa Twin north to take on the giants of the English landscape. This is the story of a solo journey through the heart of the Lake District and the wild Pennines.
From the raw, intimidating 30% gradients of Hardknott and Wrynose Passes to the breathtaking slate-mine scenery of Honister, this trip was a true test of nerve and skill. Join me as I carve through the stunning twists of Newlands and Whinlatter, climb the legendary Kirkstone Pass, and chase the horizon across the sweeping expanse of Hartside Pass in the Pennines.
But the adventure didn't stop on the tarmac. The Africa Twin opened up a world of hidden backroads and challenging gravel lanes, discovering the raw, unfiltered beauty of the Lakes that you can only find when you dare to leave the main road behind. This is what adventure riding is all about.
