Not much information is available on Raymond Baird, but he was featured in a 1937 film, "Oh say can you hear", where he apparently played two saxophones at once.
I also found an old press item from the Watertown Daily Times of 1923, where his picture was also printed. It is shown in the video. Unfortunately, the contrast is extremely high, but still, it was the only picture I could find. This is the text that accompained it: "Gaze on Raymond Baird of Salt Lake City. Pretty boy, isnt he? But he is also the youngest saxophonist, composer and band conductor in the world and the youngest member of the National Music Trades Association and of the American Federation of Musicians. He is seven years old and plays four instruments, besides wielding a wicked Baton." Quite a child prodigy, it seems. If he was seven in -23, he would have been about 20 when this recording was made, BTW.
This recording, made in Berlin, Febr. 29, 1936,was originally on Telefunken A 1937 (note same catalogue number!)
From Musica A 1937.
